Overview
Ever since you gave birth to your sweet little son, things have not quite been the same. Food has lost its taste, days blend together, even the colors around you have lost their vibrance. Your husband decides to take you on a trip to the seaside to cure your conditions, what could go wrong?
This is a twine adaptation of the short story "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Being a twine adaptation, this game has multiple branching paths, and options that are made accessible and blocked by the choices that the player makes. In addition to choices, I track a number of variables in order to represent the player-character's mental state, aligning with the background of the story.
For example, interacting with the wallpaper will decrease the player-character's mental wellbeing, meaning that even if a player chooses to walk down the same hall in two separate playthroughs, a playthrough in which they have deteriorated their mental state will cause the player-character to see a figure, while another playthrough without wallpaper interactions will just yield an empty hallway.
